The Friends commit to a just peace

Friends of Sabeel North America is a highly respected organisation known to many Friends.

They have been asking for support for a letter they are sending to President Trump asking that he resist pressure to "declare Israeli sovereignty over the entirety of the Holy Land" (including Gaza and the Occupied West Bank).

The letter argues : in support of the Palestinian people whose land would be taken away; and in rejection of a Christian theology which seeks to justify the move on the basis of an appeal to the Bible.

Following discussion within the committee, our Convener Andrew McLellan has signed it on behalf of The Friends. The Friends have therefore joined a diverse coalition of Christian voices (individuals, organisations, churches and denomination) committed to a just peace.
